Danny Evans

Consultant (Artists & Repertoire)

“I have known Danny for many years. He is a consummate professional in the music business and an outstanding musician and pianist, with a unique insight into classical music. I have trusted him with my work on numerous occasions, including the development and production of several key projects, as well as appearances as a soloist on my albums. As a boy he was considered to be something of a prodigy, studying the piano at the Yehudi Menuhin School and the Royal Academy of Music. Serious back trouble curtailed his development but not before a memorable recital of the premiere of Carol Barratt’s Fantasy Preludes at the Stern Auditorium, Carnegie Hall.

As a musicologist current musical projects include preparing the major piano works of Alexander Glazunov for recording and extensive work on lesser known Liszt repertoire. I have been particularly impressed by his surprising transcription of my Benedictus, realised with exceptional sensitivity and musical understanding.

I look forward to our continued friendship and collaboration.”

Sir Karl Jenkins, CBE, FRAM, FLSW

Danny began his musical life as a pianist, studying at the Yehudi Menuhin School and the Royal Academy of Music, before subsequently pursuing a degree in Law.

He began his professional career at Universal Music, followed by a formative period at Columbia Artists Management Inc. (CAMI Music) in New York (2011–2018). During his time at CAMI, Danny was privileged to work with many of the world’s leading artists, including Lang Lang, Jessye Norman, and Ray Chen. His work spanned a wide range of genres, from large-scale productions such as The Lord of the Rings Live in Concert, to collaborations with artists including Jon Batiste and Chucho Valdés. Danny was privileged to have been mentored personally at CAMI by the legendary Ronald Wilford until his death in 2015.

In 2018, Danny left CAMI Music to co-found Enote, a pioneering technology company developing artificial intelligence for written music, alongside establishing his own consultancy practice.

Following a period of sabbatical and a hard-won recovery from Bipolar Disorder, Danny now maintains a diverse professional portfolio. He is Co-Founder (with CEO Boian Videnoff) and a Member of the Advisory Board of Enote, as well as part of the team at Knight Classical, where he focuses on artists, repertoire, and developing opportunities for the Creative Studio.

Danny’s earliest musical foundations – established 25 years ago at the Menuhin School under Ruth Nye (a pupil of Claudio Arrau) – continue to inform and inspire his work today. In recent years, he was also especially honoured to receive the guidance and mentorship of the late Lars Vogt, whose insight and encouragement ultimately gave him the impetus to resume his piano playing. (He was also issued a stern warning by Daniel Barenboim that without a timely return to practice, his technique might not recover…fortunately, having heeded this sage advice aged 35, it did).

Following recovery from a longstanding back injury, Danny has therefore returned to the piano with renewed focus, with a particular interest in Russian repertoire (including the major works of Glazunov, Rubinstein, and Rachmaninoff), as well as – above all – the music of Ferenc Liszt, which he studied from a young age with the world-leading authority Professor Leslie J. Howard. Future projects include an extensive recording programme, encompassing a significant body of repertoire, with a particular focus on Liszt.

Alongside his performance activities, Danny occasionally undertakes arrangements, including a transcription (with Aidan Módica) of Sir Karl Jenkins’ Benedictus from The Armed Man, approved by the composer.

Danny is a committed mental health advocate, appearing as a guest on podcasts and at speaking events. He also enjoys all things sartorial and gastronomical, and, above all, visits to London Zoo – as well as spending time with the hedgehogs he sponsors at St. Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital & Rescue Centre in Buckinghamshire, UK.
