Jakub Hrůša & Bamberg Symphony: Documentary

The sound of Bamberg was a major documentary film project produced by Knight Classical in collaboration with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra and its Chief Conductor, Jakub Hrůša. Our team was selected by the orchestra following an international tender process to develop and deliver the film. Development & production

Filmed on location in Germany, the project explores the past, present, and future of the orchestra, examining its artistic identity and its place within the German cultural landscape. Knight Classical led the development and production of the film, capturing rehearsals, concert performance, and in-depth interviews, integrating selected archival and performance material, and shaping these elements into a coherent documentary narrative.

Multi-platform delivery

The project resulted in a 15-minute documentary film produced for release on medici.tv, alongside a shorter 5-minute version for wider online use. We also created a trailer and a series of portrait-format films for social media, extending the project’s reach across digital platforms. The documentary was produced with multi-language subtitles, supporting international access and dissemination across platforms.

The documentary was realised with the support of public and institutional partners, enabling an ambitious, broadcast-quality production to be delivered to a consistently high artistic and technical standard.
